Okay it’s the 24th November and I have not bought a single Christmas present yet – December is going to be a busy month for Amazon Prime I feel! At least this year I can say that I have lots of inspiration for presents already though. This is the benefit of being a blogger you see as I get to go to Christmas press launches and brand events from July onwards (yes July – the press world starts EARLY!) so that by the time December rolls around my head is already brimming with ideas!
One of the events I made sure that I didn’t miss was from Merci Maman* who launched their new Gemstone collection at Aubaine Restaurant in Marylebone.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Merci Maman, they are a London based jewellery company specialising in lovingly hand crafted jewellery which you can have personalised to your choosing to make it unique to you.
Freya (Frey De Fleur) was announced as their brand ambassador earlier this year and every time I see her wearing another stunning piece from the collection I want to rush out and get it, so I was thrilled when she invited me along to see behind the scenes on how the jewellery is made and for a closer look at each piece.
At the event there was an inspiration wall and we all scribbled down our ideas on how we would personalise the pieces. Popular choices included the initials of boyfriends/husbands or children, the dates of weddings or special anniversaries and well known quotes.
I ventured to say that I wouldn’t mind having my cat’s names engraved as I’d love a lasting keepsake of them. It turned out that quite a few other people felt the same way about their pets and the engraving table was kept busy after that!
In the end I decided to go with my favourite little mantra:
“Live everyday, Love everyday”
I like it because I’m a glass half full type of gal and think that even if things are going wrong you should always try and find something positive in your day and not let one bad thing ruin that for you.
I picked out the Personalised Gemstone Necklace in Chalcedony Blue as I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Then I got to watch as it was engraved freehand by their very talented crafter who knew instinctively how to fit it all in perfectly.
The charm on the necklace is double sided so each morning I can pick which side I want to show, depending on my mood that day! Another thing you could do is have a secret message on the side of the disk that is not seen so that you keep a name or date close to your heart, which is a really cute idea too.
Our venue for the evening was Aubaine Restaurants which was really rather stunning and their food, OH their food! You know sometimes when there’s a buffet and people just pick at it and don’t really eat much? Well that definitely wasn’t the case here – we enjoyed it so much we ended up just congregating around the table!
After a lovely catch up with some of the bloggers that I know from London way but hardly ever get to see I left wearing my new necklace, thinking of exactly what I’m going to get done for one or two of my lucky friends/family! So that’s at least one or two Christmas presents ticked off the list…
