Recently I’ve developed a new obsession with smoothie bowls. They are perfect for this time of year with their refreshing, icy ingredients and make it easy to get your recommended daily portions of fruit and vegetables.
Smoothie bowls are generally a bit thicker than a normal smoothie with added toppings and sprinkles. This means that the best way to eat them is with a spoon, as if you’re eating a breakfast cereal or porridge.
I’ve shared my favourites with you below.
I don’t tend to measure the ingredients that go into my smoothie bowls exactly, I taste as I go along to figure out whether it needs to be a bit sweeter, thicker or fruitier. To make it easier for all the recipes below use roughly half a coffee mug full of of each fruit unless stated otherwise.
If you’re using fresh fruit then make sure before you freeze it that your fruit is peeled and chopped into pieces that your blender can handle. To make your smoothie bowl just blend all the ingredients together, then add your toppings and sprinkles.
If you like your smoothies tangy, this one’s for you!
