#BreakForCake | Mr Kipling Exceedingly Good Slices Review & Giveaway

Mr Kipling have long been purveyors of sweet, indulgent treats like the classic Fondant Fancies and Cherry Bakewell Tarts, but it was their recent launch of the more wholesome Exceedingly Good Slices that caught my attention. Encouraging the nation to #breakforcake, the slices come in at less than 140 calories a slice and provide a guilt free mid morning snack option; something I can totally get on board with!

Exceedingly Good Slices from Mr Kipling

The new slices combine slow energy release oats with other nutritious ingredients such as orange, cranberry and coconut to help stave off hunger pangs before lunch. As a serial snacker, I always crave something at around eleven in the morning so I’ve found these a great, convenient option.

The Exceedingly Good Slices are more akin to a flapjack than a cake on account of the oats and come in two flavour combinations:

Dark Chocolate & Coconut

I’m not a fan of coconut myself but N encouraged me to try these anyway and was right in thinking that I’d still like them. If you don’t like the texture of coconut but don’t mind the flavour then you’ll be fine with these. The more prominent taste is the dark chocolate and then you get a sweet hint of coconut, but nothing overbearing.

Cranberry and Orange

The tangy, chewy Cranberry and Orange slices are my favourite slices from the range however. They are a lovely mix between sweet and fruity with real pieces of cranberry throughout.

The Verdict

Neither slice contains any hydrogenated fat and both are suitable for vegetarians, plus each slice comes individually wrapped in it’s own snack pack, making it easy to be good and stick to the perfect one portion when the munchies hit!

After thoroughly enjoying the slices myself, I asked N for a second opinion. He said he enjoyed them too but still prefers the Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewells best, which isn’t all that surprising I suppose! Still, these are a great alternative when you want something sweet but don’t want to be that naughty with your snacking.

The slices are available at all good supermarkets and cost £1.49 for a pack of four.
