As much as I want to be twirling around in pretty floaty dresses and strappy heels right now Spring is just not playing ball. We’ve had tantalising glimpses of what lies ahead with blue skies, fluffy clouds and enough sun to need shades… yet stand outside in less than 3 layers and you soon realise that it’s still really cold!
To cope with the somewhat awkward ‘in between seasons’ stage I’ve added something to my collection that I’ve wanted for a long, long time: a cape coat. This babe from Joy is sleeveless which makes it lighter than a full on Winter coat, but it’s still in a warm enough fabric that you can snuggle under it if you feel a bit of a chill.
I had a lunch date with the girls in Cambridge last Sunday so I paired it with my favourite casual combo of a loose fit lightweight shirt and jeggings. I’m curvier on my lower half than I’d like to be at the moment (not enough exercise although I’m slowly getting back on track!) so the shirt helps gloss over the bits that I’m more self conscious about.
I did make one concession to Spring with a pair of sandals – the first time I’ve dared to go out without thick socks or tights this year. What a rebel. (All toes survived the day).
Now hurry up Spring – I’m ready for you now!
