On Thursday night after work I weaved my way through the rush hour crowds to arrive at the Oxford Street River Island store for a special Valentine’s event being held upstairs in their Style Studio.
The River Island Style Studio is a private haven on the top floor offering a complimentary luxury shopping experience that can be booked by appointment. On the day an expert a team of personal stylists will help you pick out your perfect look in either 30 mins, an hour or 2 hours depending upon whether you’re looking for some speedy advice or a complete wardrobe revamp.
Outfits adorn the walls to give you plenty of ideas.
The studio itself is spacious and light with stylish couches and funky decor. I love places like these that are like a real life version of a Pinterest home living board!
I now want golden pineapples. As you do.
I’ll admit that I was nervous attending this event since I’m petite and pear shaped, a difficult combination to dress. However when a clothing rack was rolled out we soon got to see what goes into the Style Studio experience.
At first I thought it was just a normal rail for browsing through, but after making a beeline for a safari style belted jacket I was delighted to discover my name on it – I’d pulled out the exact piece that they’d handpicked for me to try on!
I didn’t have it belted properly in these pictures so they aren’t doing it any justice, but it was seriously lovely!
The jacket had been paired with a gorgeous slogan tee and some white jeans in ‘short’ leg length. In the end I bottled out of trying them on as they were skinny cut and my calves are rather curvy, but it gave me the nudge needed to go home and dig out a pair of bootcut white jeans that have been hiding at the back of my wardrobe for too long. Thanks for the inspiration Style Studio!
The outfits for the other bloggers were beautifully styled too. My favourite was this dungaree and smock top combo picked out for Amy.
I also couldn’t resist trying on the softest faux suede pale blue biker jacket (see it here!) that was actually on someone else’s hanger. This is probably the piece that I’m going to have to buy in time for Spring.
The evening was filled with food, laughter, games… and lots of mirror selfies because we were a room full of bloggers trying on clothes after all!
