The fun started at their office by meeting the team behind Hotels.com™. It was so interesting chatting to them; I could tell that they genuinely loved their jobs and were excited to go into the office each day. As the saying goes:
“If you love your job you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” #goals
Then we were treated to a guided tour of one of the most inspirational working environments I’ve ever seen. Hotels.com™ are part of Expedia, Inc, so as you walk into reception the first thing you see is a giant 3d photo collage made up entirely of pictures taken from staff’s travel adventures.
Being that I was with a group of bloggers we spent as much time photographing the food as eating it. Got to get that perfect Instagram shot after all!
At around 11pm taxis arrived to take us to our hotel rooms for the night. Each blogger had been assigned a hotel and our challenge was to film an #unrooming video before hitting the sack!
So what exactly is an unrooming then? Well think of it like an unboxing video but for hotels, where you upload a short video (30 seconds to 90 seconds is ideal!) in which you give the first impressions of your hotel as you enter the room and include a score out of 5 at the end. If you go on Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #unrooming you’ll find lots of examples including clips from Pixie Lott, Gizzie Erskine and Kara Tointon.
I found out on the night of the briefing that each of the blogger #unrooming videos created that night will be entered into a competition. All entries will be judged and the winner will receive a £200 voucher.
Challenge accepted! Drum roll please for my first ever Vlog!
I had a bit of fun editing my #unrooming (thank you Youtube tutorials!), however this really isn’t required – the main thing is just to give others a good idea of what to expect when booking a hotel room.
If you are staying in a hotel in the next month, I have a competition for you!
Hotels.com have given me a £200 money off coupon to giveaway to one lucky reader. It can be used against bookings and stays made on the UK Hotels.com site up until the 20th October 2016.
To enter, film a short #unrooming video and tweet me the link to it. After reviewing all of the entries I’ll select my favourite and announce the winner on Twitter on 24th November 2015. Get creative, make me laugh and you’re in with a great chance!
To enter the Competition you must:
a. visit and follow the @HotelsdotcomEU Twitter Page;
b. visit and follow my @lovedbylaurac Twitter page
c. record a video reviewing the room from the moment the door is first opened, stating
the hotel name, room number, and ending the video with a score out of 5;
d. ‘tweet’ us the video stating the @HotelsdotcomEU handle and the #unrooming
hashtag as well as the full name of the hotel; and
e. ensure that the ‘tweet’ makes clear that it is an entry into a Competition (for instance
‘here’s my entry into a special @lovedbylaurac #unrooming contest’).

Good luck!
This post is not sponsored, however Hotels.com did very generously pay for me to stay at the London Regency Hotel with a friend overnight and treated us to dinner. All views expressed in the post are my own.
What do you think of the #unrooming concept? Would you like to see these before picking out a hotel?
