After helping my friend Marcus (the photographer behind F/22 Photography) get started with his blog he offered to return the favour with a photoshoot. I am certainly no model and can’t pose to save my life so I was hesitant at first, but he assured me that it would be lots of fun. Offers like this don’t come about very often (i.e. ever) so for one day only I had a pro take my photos for me!

We spent a brilliant afternoon exploring the countryside for ‘shoot’ locations and Marcus captured some beautiful sunshine and sunset photos which I’ll share with you in an upcoming post. When we spotted this long brick wall we decided to stop and do an impromptu outfit of the day shoot too.

Probably due to the fact that I’ve now raced through 5 seasons of the show, the character Aria from Pretty Little Liars is my most recent style crush.  She’s dinky like me (I laughed out loud when Spencer called her a pixie) and yet she always makes the boldest fashion statements. I love the way she pairs clothes to mix boho with feminine shapes and adds chunky accessories or patterns to give the look a sartorial edge. Basically, she fills me with confidence that short girls can look good!
I’ve also wanted a tulle skirt for so long now (go check out my Parisian Chic Pinterest board for some major fashion goals). My frothy white version is from an Ebay seller and cost less than a tenner – the perfect way to experiment with the look without breaking the bank. The skirt itself isn’t the best quality as there are a few loose threads and the waistband is thicker than I would have liked, but with hours of fun to be had swishing and swirling around, I don’t think you can go wrong.

I found a grey jersey crop top in H&M to contrast against the tulle. I would never dare bare my midriff but as I was wearing the elasticated skirt positioned just above my waist this was actually the perfect length. A cute cinch waisted bow belt from Primark brought the two pieces together. I wasn’t sure whether it was too big at first, but I’ve fallen in love with it as it’s just so versatile. I popped it in my handbag and used it to dress up a plain black dress for after works drinks the other evening.
To complete my look I accessorised with a nice chunky metal ring; again from Primark. I don’t tend to buy many clothes from the store but they excel at fun, affordable jewellery.

If I could have, I would have chosen some nice stilletto heels to elongate my legs, but alas my awkward feet cry at the very thought of them #shortgirlproblems. Instead I wore my incredibly comfy suede platform wedges from Clarks. They lift me up a few inches but cushion my feet so I can twirl to my hearts content rather than limping home
