Ladbrokes Wimbledon Summer Party

Ladbrokes Wimbledon Summer Party

On Friday I was back in London as Ladbrokes had invited me to celebrate another fantastic Wimbledon tournament at their summer party.

The dress code was ‘white’ so I met Laura H (thatgirlbehindhermask.com) that afternoon and together we had a mad dash around Oxford Street. I had to reject quite a few dresses as they were covered in other people’s foundation and fake tan. Clothing stores should really have a ‘sample’ dresses in each size and keep the good ones safely out the back! Anyway I was relieved to finally find a cute little dress in New Look that skimmed forgivingly over my pear shape. Laura H found a gorgeous bodycon style scallop lace dress in Topshop.
Lauren and Fran joined us to get ready and head to the venue. Due to a bit of a taxi fiasco we arrived to the party a bit later than planned. Luckilly Carrie and Victoria (the event organisers and all round lovely ladies) gave us a warm welcome and made sure we had a glass of Prosecco to toast the start of the event.

The downstairs of Martha’s Bar in the Williamson’s Tavern was exclusively ours for the night and was decorated with a Best of British theme. Bunting adorned the walls and tables were laden with the classics: scones and fondant fancies…

Of course it wouldn’t be a Wimbledon party without some sporting attire, but that was covered too!

Prosecco, Pimms and Kopperberg were on tap and went down a treat after the hot summers day.

I spent time mingling and catching up with some familiar faces.

Then we all attempted a tennis quiz which turned out to be devilishly difficult (especially after a couple of Pimms!) but when we found out that prizes were involved our competitive streaks came out.

A big strawberry piñata hung in the doorway and you had to give it a whack whilst blindfolded. The doorframe seemed to take a lot of the hits instead of the strawberry and even though I managed to hit it quite hard, the strawberry held strong and I only dented it a bit!

Fran eventually let loose on it and won a bottle of Pimms for her efforts.

The final game of the night was beer pong (renamed tennis pong!). I rocked up to the table and loudly announced (a little bit tipsy at this point) “I played beer pong at Center Parcs and I’m RUBBISH!!” before somehow sinking two tennis balls into the score 9 cup in succession. The pressure got to me after that and my final ball failed to score, so I was absolutely chuffed when later that night I was crowned joint Beer Pong champion. Even more so when I won a bottle of Lanson Champagne!

I think the white dress code turned out rather well in the end, don’t you?

All too soon it was time to leave, but not before we were given an adorable personalised treat to take home.

The night ended in  McDonalds with chicken nuggets and fries. I have no regrets.
A big thanks to Ladbrokes for allowing us to celebrate Wimbledon in style, and to Carrie, Victoria and the rest of the team for being such fantastic hosts and keeping us entertained on the night!

They asked us each to guess who might be in the Royal Box with the likes of Kate, Wills and Harry for the Men’s Final today – my guess would have to be Pippa Middleton – keeping it in the family!

Until next time…?!!
