Skin Saviours #3 | Faith In Nature* and Sunburn Aftercare

In the final part of my Skin Saviours series, I’m sharing with you two all natural skincare products that I love from Faith In Nature and MooGoo, both of which have helped me with a skincare complaint recently.

First, however, a few words on the subject of summer skin safety.

A couple of weeks ago Part Two of my Skin Care Saviours series went live in which I showed you my newly glowing skin (you can read more on this here!). In complete irony, by the end of that day I was glowing for all the wrong reasons after getting a bad case of sunburn.

I have very pale, delicate skin and it burns extremely easily so I am usually very careful to protect it against the harmful, ageing rays of the sun. However on this particular day I got caught out. N and I were taking part in a charity Dragon Boat racing tournament on the rowing lakes (more on this next week) and we didn’t check the weather forecast before we left. It was warm and sunny but there was a lovely cool breeze rolling off the water and I was out all day. I didn’t notice until I got back home just how badly sunburned I was.

Having worn my favourite oversized Jackie ‘O sunglasses that day, my cheeks and forehead were bright pink but there was white skin around my eyes. My nose was candy striped. N kindly referred to me as ‘reverse panda’ which he found highly amusing!

The reason I’m telling you this is just to serve as a reminder that Summer is just around the corner, so please don’t get caught out like me! If in doubt keep some suncream / block in your bag just in case and wear an SPF moisturiser.

And now on to my skincare saviours!

Faith In Nature Purifying Cleansing Lotion, £6.25 (150ml)

Founded in the 70’s before ‘green’ was even a thing, Faith In Nature produces skincare using carefully selected certified organic and naturally derived ingredients. Their ethos is simple:

“…we believe in harnessing the healing powers of nature, but not abusing it in the process. We believe that using naturally derived, cruelty-free sources is what makes our products work so beautifully. Because, if there’s one thing we’ve learnt, it’s that for as long as we do good by the planet, everything else just falls into place.”

Who can argue with that?

I was severely tempted by their Chocolate Shampoo and Conditioner (YUM!) and their Seaweed & Citrus shower gel, however in the end I opted to try their cleansing lotion.

I had been using the Sebamed Cleansing Bar day and night for the past month and whilst I am going to continue using this at the times in the month when my skin naturally produces more oil, I was starting to find it a bit too concentrated for twice daily use and wanted to move back to a gentler cleanser the rest of the time.

Once the tenderness had gone from my sunburn, I started using this lotion with my magnitone brush, but you can also just apply it with your fingers and then wipe off using a cloth or cotton wool.

The lotion is enriched with organic rosemary and has a lovely subtle aroma to it. It’s a very gentle product which suits my sensitive skin and still does a great job of removing my makeup and other everyday impurities. My skin feels peachy soft after use.

I suffered from a little peeling on my nose and forehead a few days after my sunburn incident, but I think that the nourishing ingredients in this played their part in keeping this to a minimum (thank god!!).

I’m so pleased to have discovered this brand, not only does it work beautifully and is priced very reasonably, but it’s paraben free, cruelty free and vegan.

MooGoo Full Cream Moisturiser, £12.50 (270g)

I reviewed this back in March  (you can see the full review and more on MooGoo here!) but I just had to mention it again because it has been a true saviour in the past week.

Skin Saviours #3 | Faith In Nature* and Sunburn Aftercare

If you have ever peeled after a suntan or sunburn, you’ll know that it’s pretty gross! If you try to rub it away (and let’s face it, who doesn’t??) then it just gets worse! The Full Cream Moisturiser has been amazing for moisturising and at the same time disguising the horrible scaly peeling on my arms and best of all it soaks in within a minute. I can feel my skin returning back to health and it’s incredibly soft, so whilst I’m kicking myself for doing it damage in the first place, this is helping to set it back on track!

But don’t take my word for it, see for yourself!

And that concludes my series on Skincare Saviours for now. Stay tuned for my next series – Hair Saviours!

Are you prepared for summer? Do you have any saviour products for the dreaded sunburn?

The items in this post were PR samples with thanks to Faith In Nature and MooGoo, however as always I only say I love something if I really mean it. Please read my Disclaimer page for more info on this!
