Today was the March Town Christmas Market. My dad was exhibiting in the craft tent, so I came along to help out. Dad makes ornamental wooden puzzles and ornaments called ‘woodimals’. He’s completely self taught, one day he just decided to buy a scroll saw, disappeared down to his garage for a few hours and emerged with a wooden block in the shape of a cat. It all grew from there.
Owls seem to be his most popular design at the moment, so he had brought along plenty!
My Dad’s stand – halfway through setting up |
We were in a big gazebo, so there was much feet stamping and hand rubbing throughout the day to keep warm, but we were sheltered from the worst of the elements. It was lovely and busy and we happilly chatted away to all our visitors, even the furry ones. (Okay who am I kidding? ESPECIALLY the furry ones!)
I took a break to wander around the other craft stalls.
There I found cute ceramic piggy banks – handmade and each one unique.

Button rings. I especially liked the stag – very Game of Thrones!
Unusual earrings. These are called the ‘Man in the Iron Mask’.
Cute christmas decorations.

It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and I got to talk to most of the exhibitors who were all very local. We compared notes on how the day was going and who could still feel their toes!
On one stall I met this little character, who was keeping her owners company and entertaining the crowds. It turned out that she was a rescue dog who’d been mistreated in a former life, but her new owners clearly adore her.

Their stand was also one of my favourites. I picked up a Christmas
Garland and a cute little cat ornament for the tree, which has a little
bell on it so I’m sure our cats will love it too!
It’s safe to say that after yesterday’s mis-start, I finally got into the Christmas spirit today.
Oh and then I got home to find that Mr F had bought a new Christmas tree and put it up – it’s a cherry blossom tree! It won’t replace the more traditional one we have which we’ll be putting up a bit later in the month, but it’s creating a cosy warm glow in the corner of the room and I love it!
